What if my host makes me uncomfortable?
If you're uncomfortable with your host, it could be that there was some miscommunication or misunderstanding regarding house rules or boundaries. Is there something we can help clear up? Let us know and we'd be happy to contact the host and discuss. Sometimes, a conversation is all that's necessary to remedy a situation. That being said, your comfort and security are paramount us, and if you decide that you no longer want to stay with your host, we can help.
If at any point you feel uneasy, we suggest the following:
- Step 1: Use your own judgment. If you don’t feel safe or you feel uneasy, then use your judgement to understand if you should remove yourself from that situation or not. Make sure you focus on your safety first.
- Step 2 : If you feel you need to contact authorities, make sure you do so first before attempting to contact Overnight so you can focus on your safety before your accommodations.
- Step 3: Only when you are in a safe space and feel at ease, contact Overnight support so we can discuss next steps. Don't worry — we'll handle communication with the host.
Your safety is always our first priority. If you’re uncomfortable we want to make sure you’re in safe hands and you use your best judgement to get there.
